How technologies have positively impacted the civil construction sector

10/17/2023

The rapid advance of technology has significantly contributed to the increase of productivity in different areas of our day to day. We are currently living through the fourth industrial revolution or else called 4.0 industry, where the main focus is efficiency and productivity through the use of advanced technologies and Artificial Intelligence, joining the physical and the digital to impel operations.

Today, in order to attend the necessities of the market, the industry needs to be agile and in civil construction that is not different. Technology has been responsible for impacting the management of construction works and generating higher productive efficiency, with methods which prove efficacious in the constructive process and in the competitivity of the sector.

Within that scenario, constructors need to give priority to the use of technologies, improving the quality and development of products, in order to attend to the demands of their consumers. Qriar Engenharia and QriarCity, enterprises which we invest in, work to redesign the future of constructions, using innovative tools to develop high standard buildings which aggregate value to their communities.

Civil construction and economy

Civil construction plays an important role in economy because it involves different activities which directly impact the social and economic development of a country.

Responsible for a great part of Brazil"s GDP, the civil construction sector kept in 2020 a drop around 3%; even with the pandemic, the segment was one of the few which did not stop and its decline was lesser than it had been projected. Furthermore, the area was the one which most created jobs all over the country in the last year, formally employing more than 138 thousand people. For 2021, the prediction remains positive; according to the CBIC - Brazilian Chamber of Construction Industry, the segment shall advance 4%, the greatest advance ever registered in the sector in eight years.

The real estate line which runs side by side to that of civil construction has also good predictions for this year. According to the National Real Estate Indicators, publicized by the CBIC in February, 2021, the intention of purchase for the next two years reached the mark of 41% in the national market; compared to the same period last year, whose rate was only 24%, it demonstrates the increase in desire of purchase of new real estate properties, even within the current scenario.

Benefits for the sector

Both in Brazil and in Portugal, where Qriar Engenharia and QriarCity respectively act, the civil construction sector walks towards evolution. Allied to technologies, developers bring higher precision at all stages of their works, generating increase in productivity, security, and better fulfilment of terms. These are benefits which go beyond planning and bring transparency in information to enterprises and customers.

Fundamental for the best efficiency, automation software utilized by Qriar Engenharia and QriarCity helps in all processes, which go from the stage that antecedes the work with management of financial processes and purchase planning, until construction and finalization, with management of stock, reduction of waste and customer base. Automated management is done from following data which can be obtained at any moment.

Besides automation tools, some equipment used at construction sites utilize IoT technology and are connected to the internet, which helps to monitor in real time temperature and pressure, [for instance], through sensors connected to the work. For higher productivity, Qriar's developers also work with prefabricated materials which allows to save time, resources and construction materials.

The future of constructions

Thinking about the future of civil construction also involves thinking about today and perceiving technology as a great ally of the sector in the next years. The key to development is to continue investing in technological tools and solutions which bring higher efficiency in productivity and in assertive decision-making.

Focused on positive impact and on the legacy which their projects will bring, developers work to identify development opportunities and attain strong presence in the places they are, through construction of buildings with high standard engineering and finishing so as to offer better conditions of living and to positively impact the life of communities.

In Portugal, the prediction for QriarCity is to start still in April its construction work in Faro - the Pateos Serpa Pinto - and in the next year to begin another project, a residential undertaking in Alta de Lisboa. Whereas in Brazil, Qriar Engenharia is working on a residential construction in the same region of the Ilha Azul undertaking in the Federal District. Expectations for the next months in both countries are positive, either for civil construction or the real estate market.
